About Jade Tiger
Jade Tiger began in 2023 when Tom, known to many of you already, launched his market stall on the Cambridge Market at just 18 years old. What started as a modest crystal jewellery stand trading just two days a week quickly blossomed. Within a year, we were open 6–7 days a week and had more than doubled in size. We expanded into premium crystal beads sourced from around the world, handmade crystal necklaces and bracelets crafted right here in Cambridge, and an array of crystal-based accessories.
In August 2024, just over a year after starting, we were approached by a long-time friend — the beloved watch repairman who had faithfully served the people of Cambridge for over 30 years. With his retirement on the horizon, he offered to train us so that we could continue his legacy. Thanks to him, we now offer battery replacements, strap fittings, basic watch repairs, and jewellery repairs. While this is now a small part of our business, we’re proud to uphold this traditional and valuable service.
Crystals and Fossils – The Science of Magic
The Science of Magic began in 2009, founded by the late Mal, a remarkable and deeply knowledgeable expert in crystals, fossils, minerals, and science. Her understanding of biology, geology, physics, and palaeontology was unmatched, and she shared it generously with all who visited her stall. After trading for 14 years and weathering tough times — from economic downturns to the COVID pandemic — Mal sadly passed away in 2023. Her wife lovingly continued the stall until late 2024, when it was time to close.
Having had the privilege of working with Mal in the past, we were honoured to continue her legacy. While we cannot claim her vast expertise, we strive to uphold the same standards of authenticity and quality that made her business so respected. It’s our mission to provide the same honest approach to crystals and fossils in Cambridgeshire, always clearly labelling artificial items and never misrepresenting our stock.
Where to Find Us
Today, Jade Tiger operates as two separate stalls on the Cambridge Market:
Jade Tiger Jewellery: Open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday — offering jewellery, watches, repairs, crystal accessories, and carved pieces.
Jade Tiger Crystals: Open Monday to Saturday — specialising in crystals, fossils, minerals, and related items.
We trade all year round, come rain or shine, winter or summer. You can find us at Cambridge Market Square, and we’ve recently launched a small online shop with plans to expand in the near future.
Tom continues to run the crystal stall, while Lauren, a young and talented jewellery maker, manages the jewellery stall. We’re not a big company, just passionate individuals doing what we love.
